Site rebuild on the way.

  • Post author:

I have hired someone to do a complete site rebuild. The new site will have all the same functionality, but will hopefully have less bugs.

The new site will have adult verification for IP addresses from any jurisdiction that requires it. This, of course, is not ideal, but I will comply with the laws as they are. Adult verification will be run through the company AgeChecked. Your identity information is not viewable by anyone working on my site, and your info will not be saved by AgeChecked. Your privacy is paramount.

The new site’s design should be very similar to the current one. In addition, we’re working on saving all the existing comments and ratings and porting them over.

We plan to go live with the new site by the end of the month. I’ll update you when it’s imminent. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since I use a satellite link, my IP moves all over the country so I potentially can be impacted (extent yet TBD).
Any chance of doing age verification by account? The CC has the account address so only those in states with the verification rules would be impacted.
I don’t know all of the rabbit holes involved so just an input.

There is no adult material on the site in front of the paywall, so age will be checked at login. We have hired a service that will comply by the rules of every jurisdiction depending on the IP address. It’s not something I like, or that I think is smart, but if your IP address comes from one of the restricting jurisdictions, the age verification will comply with that jurisdiction’s law.

Any chance we’ll get better compatibility for mobile devices? It’s currently super difficult to read on a mobile browser. Love the content though.

That sounds good, I guess in that way you can filter the pirates. Good for you! And besides we are all adults so much better! Kudos

If we’re already subscribing using a CC (which means we’re adults), why would we need adult verification?

Yes, I know it’s dumb. But various jurisdictions are passing laws requiring additional age verification. If your IP address is in one of the jurisdictions with an age verification law, the AgeChecked people will ask for an age verification. If your IP address is not in one of those jurisdictions, the credit card will be enough.

My biggest feedback would be making it possible to jump immediately into the next chapter after reading one instead of back in out and trying to remember wheat chapter number I’m on.

I initially discovered your work on other sites and admit it’s easier to read there.
