Poll Closed. This wasn’t close. We’ll be sticking with PDFs.
I’m thinking about changing the format of the illustrated chapter downloads. Right now they are, of course, PDFs. But I’m thinking about changing them to a zip file containing JPG image files. One image for each page. I will not be able to do both formats.
Please vote and tell me if you would like me to continue with PDFs for the illustrated chapters, or change it to JPG files. Poll expires on 9/5/24.
For me, i like to download the pdf’s to my phone and read them in my e-reader app ( i use one called PocketBook), and it has a feature called “Text Reflow” that is able to reformat the text and images to both fit my screen. I wouldn’t be able to do that with an image file.
PDF should be smaller, since text can be comprimized as text and not as picture
As long as the naming convention of the images is consistent I am fine with both options
Absolutely…PDF all the way. It’s a MUCH more convenient format to use.
Though, i’d love higher-res PDFs….failing that, if you could release zips of full-res source images from the chapters (like just the clean art), that’d be great too. (that’s not a perk of a higher tier, is it?)
I think it would be better to stick with PDFs as resizing JPGs to fit bigger screen with higher resolutions would lead to blurry text. It’s fairly easy to convert PDF to images of desired resolution with crisp sharp letters but it’s a real pain the other way around.
I just wish the pages in the PDFs would be published in bigger default resolution than the ~1150x1500px that is quite small nowadays. Zooming PDF may keep the text nice and sharp but the images included suffer. Doubling the page resolution would be very nice.
Hi Rawly,
I voted for the pdf format, but what I’d really like to see your work in docx files, or, failing that, a reflowable format like epub.
I read your stories on my computer. I suppose most of your subscribers do.
Kindly, R
Thank you all for your comments. This is very helpful, as I often don’t know what methods matter to people when reading my stories.
I’m for which ever way makes it easier for you.
I also prefer the PDFs because they’re easier to read on my phone.
