An update on JDseal’s collaborations with me.

  • Post author:

We haven’t been making the progress we’d like with Under Fire. JDseal has been very busy with his own stories, and has had a hard time finding the bandwidth to continue with Under Fire. We talked it over and decided that it would be best to shelve that story for now. We may come back to Under Fire later, but we are officially setting it aside. We agreed that instead of a multiple chapter story, I’ll send him a stand-alone short story like The Clairvoyant Prisoner. He will work on that story whenever he finds time. It might take 6 months or 24 months to complete the illustrations, there won’t be any deadline on it.

Unfortunate, but ultimately predictable. While i LOVE JD’s work, he’s just not been reliable, when it comes to the colabs he does with you. I’m still kinda pissed about Palmer Mansion, lol.

How about handing it off to a different artist instead? It only reached 3 or 4 chapters anyway. Barely anything happened. At least let another artist take over so we can get some closure, even for another few chapters would go a long way. Especially considering this was one of the stories that members voted for. I don’t know man, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

JDseal would like to return to this story at some point. And I have Redoxa’s stories to find new artists for. So, I’ll probably leave it be for now. I will try and write more chapters as time allows.

I agree with the previous commenter, I would be more than happy just being able to read and continue the story… even without JDs great illustrations. I feel the same about Aztec Dynasty 🙁 But I know you like to do things the way you do them. Also, you tagged this with Marooned Christmas! Almost thought this applied to that

Yes, I’ll try to write more chapters as time allows.

Is there a reason u can’t continue with text only then when jdseals got time he can go back through your text and work on the illustrations … I can understand shelving the illustrations … but shelving the story seems a waste … cause there is a lot potential with the story… unless this info is just a update on the illustrations not getting done quick … I would suggest doing text only

It just goes against the system I’ve created for writing. If I find some extra time, I might do this.

I also have no problem with writing a full story and illustrating it later down the road. I’d actually prefer it, with illustrations published for works that I haven’t read in a while. Doing both concurrently ends with us not appreciating the illustrations as much, considering we just read that exact same chapter a week or three before. At least personally, I just end up skimming the images without really re-reading it. I’d prefer to go back to a story after some time has passed, where I’d actually want to read it again but with the benefit of illustrations the second time around.

This is actually a good point. I’d also vote in favor of continuing this story in text form. I mean, why not? It was just about to get really good! I think Jimmy ^ makes sense in that more time between releases of text and illustrated versions would benefit the reader as we can then enjoy the story again after having an interval longer than a few days or weeks.
